Uninstall Cryptic Disk, Disk Password Protection or Exlade RamDisk

You can remove Cryptic Disk or Disk Password Protection like any other Windows program.

Disk Password Protection: before uninstalling, turn off boot protection and partition protection in the program. Otherwise the protection stays active after the program is removed, and you will need to install it again to turn the protection off.

Cryptic Disk: encrypted volumes and containers stay encrypted after the program is removed. To access them again, install Cryptic Disk. If Windows offers to format an encrypted drive, decline.

Uninstall Cryptic Disk in Windows XP

• Close all Exlade Cryptic Disk windows.
• Go to the Start menu > Control Panel.
• Click Add or Remove Programs.
• Double-click Exlade Cryptic Disk.
• Click Remove.
• Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog.

Uninstall Cryptic Disk in Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8

• Close all Cryptic Disk windows and tabs.
• Go to the Start menu > Control Panel. (Windows 8 users: Learn how to access the Control Panel)
• Click Programs and Features.
• Double-click Exlade Cryptic Disk.
• Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog.

Uninstall Cryptic Disk in Windows 10/ Windows 11

• Close all Cryptic Disk windows.
• Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 10: Apps > Apps & features).
• Find Exlade Cryptic Disk in the list and click “…” next to it (Windows 10: click the program).
• Click Uninstall, then click Uninstall again to confirm.

Uninstall Disk Password Protection in Windows XP

• Close all Exlade Disk Password Protection windows.
• Go to the Start menu > Control Panel.
• Click Add or Remove Programs.
• Double-click Exlade Disk Password Protection.
• Click Remove.
• Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog.

Uninstall Disk Password Protection in Windows Vista/ Windows 7/ Windows 8

• Close all Disk Password Protection windows and tabs.
• Go to the Start menu > Control Panel. (Windows 8 users: Learn how to access the Control Panel)
• Click Programs and Features.
• Double-click Exlade Disk Password Protection.
• Click Uninstall from the confirmation dialog.

Uninstall Disk Password Protection in Windows 10/ Windows 11

• Close all Disk Password Protection windows.
• Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 10: Apps > Apps & features).
• Find Exlade Disk Password Protection in the list and click “…” next to it (Windows 10: click the program).
• Click Uninstall, then click Uninstall again to confirm.

Uninstall Exlade RamDisk

Exlade RamDisk: files on RAM disks that do not keep them are lost when the disks are ejected. Before uninstalling, copy everything you need to a regular drive.

Windows 10/ Windows 11

• Go to Start > Settings > Apps > Installed apps (Windows 10: Apps > Apps & features).
• Find Exlade RamDisk in the list and click “…” next to it (Windows 10: click the program).
• Click Uninstall and confirm. The program puts moved folders and TEMP back, ejects the disks and removes the driver and the service.
• Saved copies, startup disks, templates and settings are kept and come back if you install the program again. To delete them too, turn on “Also delete saved copies and settings”.

Without a window, for example on servers: "C:\Program Files\Exlade RamDisk\ExladeRamDiskSetup.exe" --uninstall --quiet --remove-data.

macOS

• In Exlade RamDisk, open Settings > Advanced and click “Reset…”. The app ejects its disks, puts moved folders and TMPDIR back, and deletes startup disks with their copies and keys, templates, history and settings.
• Quit the app and drag Exlade RamDisk from Applications to the Trash.
• If you installed it with Homebrew, run brew uninstall --zap --cask exlade-ramdisk after the reset.

Linux

• Eject the disks in the app so that moved folders go back to their place.
• In a terminal, run sh exlade-ramdisk.run --uninstall (you can download the installer again on the download page). It asks for your sudo password.
• With --remove-data, it also deletes the startup disks and the usage history in /var/lib/eramdisk.
• Disks that are still attached disappear when they are ejected or the computer restarts.
